On June 26, 2023, the plant officially began its commercial operations. Through a dedicated 400 kV transmission line, it is currently exporting 1,496 MW of power to Bangladesh. This power supply arrangement is facilitated by a 25-year power purchase agreement between Adani Power plant and the Bangladesh Power Development Board.

To generate electricity, the plant utilizes ultra-supercritical technology, a cleaner and more efficient method. It also adopts environmentally friendly practices such as 100% desulphurization of gas and zero water discharge.

The commencement of power exports from the Jharkhand plant holds significant importance for the energy relationship between India and Bangladesh. This development is expected to contribute to meeting Bangladesh’s growing electricity demand while enhancing the reliability of its power grid.
