The Ladli Behna scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to unmarried women between the ages of 23 and 60, who have no children and belong to families with an annual income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh. Launched in 2008, the scheme currently benefits over 1.25 crore women in the state.

The decision to raise the monthly allowance is a response to the increasing cost of living. The government plans to implement the hike in phases, starting with Rs 1,500 per month from July 2023. The full amount of Rs 3,000 per month will be paid by March 2024.

The increase in the monthly allowance is a positive step that will offer much-needed financial support to women in Madhya Pradesh. It will contribute to their well-being and empowerment.
