BJP Names G Kishan Reddy as New President of Telangana


The BJP has appointed G Kishan Reddy as the new president of its Telangana unit. Reddy is presently a Union minister for tourism and culture. He also represents the Secunderabad constituency in the Lok Sabha. He enjoys a high level of respect in the state and is seen as a potential candidate for the chief minister’s post in the upcoming assembly elections.

Sunil Jakhar, a former Congress leader, has been appointed as the new president of the BJP’s Punjab unit. Previously, he held the position of president in the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee from 2017 to 2022. As a Jat Sikh leader, Jakhar enjoys popularity in the state and is expected to assist the BJP in appealing to the Jat Sikh community in Punjab.

These appointments of G Kishan Reddy and Sunil Jakhar are significant for the BJP’s prospects in Telangana and Punjab. The party hopes that these two leaders will contribute to its improved performance in the forthcoming assembly elections in both states.

Regarding the specific appointments, G Kishan Reddy will succeed Bandi Sanjay Kumar as the president of the BJP’s Telangana unit. Sanjay Kumar has been assigned the role of the party’s election in-charge for Gujarat. Similarly, Sunil Jakhar will replace Ashwani Sharma as the president of the BJP’s Punjab unit, with Sharma taking on the responsibility of the party’s election in-charge for Himachal Pradesh.

Additionally, the BJP has appointed D Purandeswari, a former Union minister, as its new president in Andhra Pradesh. She will be replacing Kanna Lakshminarayana. Moreover, Babulal Marandi, the former chief minister of Jharkhand, has been appointed as the BJP’s new president in Jharkhand, succeeding Deepak Prakash.

These appointments form part of a broader organizational restructuring undertaken by the BJP ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections in several states. The party expects that these changes will enhance its performance in the elections.
