EasyJet Flight Cancellations Hit 180,000 Passengers

EasyJet has announced the cancellation of 1,700 flights this summer due to air traffic control chaos in Europe. These cancellations will affect 180,000 passengers, primarily impacting flights at Gatwick Airport. The airline attributes the cancellations to “continued high levels of ATC delays and cancellations.” Other airlines, including Ryanair, British Airways, and Lufthansa, have also been forced to cancel flights due to air traffic control strikes in Europe.

The strikes are expected to continue for the next few weeks, potentially leading to more cancellations in the future. EasyJet expressed its apologies for the inconvenience caused and is working to rebook affected passengers onto alternative flights. Additionally, the airline is offering refunds to passengers who were unable to be rebooked.

These cancellations come as a blow to EasyJet, which is already struggling to meet the increased demand for summer flights. In recent weeks, the airline has reduced its flights by 10% to prevent further cancellations.
