Daniel Rodriguez Cofre, the CEO of Mexican Coca-Cola bottler Femsa, has resigned to prioritize his cancer treatment. He was diagnosed with colon cancer in February and has been undergoing treatment while working. Rodriguez Cofre made the “difficult decision” to step down in order to focus on his health and family.
The interim CEO of Femsa will be Jose Antonio Fernandez Carbajal, who is also the company’s chairman. Fernandez Carbajal has a long history with Femsa, serving as its former CEO and being a part of the company for over 30 years.
Femsa holds the title of the world’s largest Coca-Cola bottler in terms of volume. Its operations span across Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Additionally, the company operates convenience stores and supermarkets through its retail division.
Although Rodriguez Cofre’s resignation is a setback for Femsa, the company has a capable management team in place. Fernandez Carbajal, with his extensive knowledge and experience in the business, is well-suited to lead Femsa during this transitional period.
In light of the situation, I extend my best wishes for Rodriguez Cofre’s swift recovery. May he find solace in prioritizing his well-being and spending time with his loved ones during this challenging period.
