According to the South Korean military, the missile is likely a Scud-type missile, which falls under the category of short-range ballistic missiles. However, the specific type of missile and its intended target remain unclear.

This recent missile launch adds to the already high tensions on the Korean Peninsula. In recent months, North Korea has been conducting various weapons tests, including the launch of its first intercontinental ballistic missile since 2017.

The United States and South Korea have both condemned this latest launch, urging North Korea to cease its provocative actions. The United States has expressed readiness to take “appropriate measures” in response.
