Qatar, known as the world’s largest exporter of LNG, has taken advantage of the recent surge in LNG prices. In 2022, the country’s LNG exports generated a remarkable revenue of $132 billion. To further strengthen its position, Qatar has strategic plans to expand its LNG production capacity by 64%. By 2027, the goal is to reach a production capacity of 126 million tons per year.

The high demand for LNG in the global market is evident through the expected signing of a substantial number of LNG offtake contracts this year. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has disrupted gas supplies in Europe, leading to an increased demand for LNG. Qatar is well-prepared to meet this demand and is likely to benefit from the current high LNG prices, both in the present and in the foreseeable future.
