The investigation is being conducted by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed by the Justice Department in July 2021. Smith’s main objective is to determine if Trump and his allies committed any criminal acts in their efforts to overturn the election results.

Trump vehemently denies any wrongdoing and refers to the investigation as a “witch hunt.” He has made it clear that he will not cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether Trump will face any charges as a result of the investigation. However, the fact that he is a target of the investigation carries significant implications, potentially affecting his future in politics.

Throughout his political career, Trump has been a divisive and controversial figure. Accusations against him include spreading false information, promoting conspiracy theories, and engaging in racist and misogynistic behavior.

Despite the ongoing investigation into his actions surrounding the 2020 election, Trump is currently considering another presidential run in 2024. However, the investigation may pose challenges and complications to his potential candidacy.
