Netanyahu Invited to China, Reaffirms US as Israel’s Top Ally

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he has received an invitation to visit China, but he emphasized that the United States remains Israel’s primary ally. Netanyahu made these remarks during a joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Jerusalem. Blinken’s visit to Israel marked his first as secretary of state.

Netanyahu confirmed the invitation from China and expressed that Israel maintains a positive relationship with China, although he has yet to decide on the timing of his visit. However, he underscored the utmost importance of the U.S.-Israel alliance, stating that the United States is Israel’s closest and most steadfast friend, and that their alliance is unbreakable.

Blinken echoed Netanyahu’s sentiments, reiterating the strength of the U.S.-Israel relationship, which he described as “ironclad.” He emphasized the shared values, interests, and commitment to security and democracy between the two nations.

Blinken’s visit took place against the backdrop of numerous challenges in the region, such as the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the threat posed by Iran, and the war in Ukraine. In their meeting, Blinken and Netanyahu discussed these challenges and agreed to collaborate on addressing them.
