They’re calling it the Mustang GTD. It’s a street-legal version of the Mustang GT3 race car. This car is going to compete against big names like Porsche and Aston Martin in races, including the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. And the twist? It’s totally legal to drive on regular roads!

We don’t know all the details yet. It’s going to start at around $300,000, which is a lot, and you’ll need to order it in a special way. Ford hasn’t said how many of these cars they’re going to make. First, they’ll make the car in the Flat Rock factory where they make regular Mustangs. Then, they’ll send it to a Canadian company called Multimatic, who also made the expensive Ford GT supercar.

Let’s talk about what makes this 2025 Ford Mustang GTD special:

  • It’s got a supercharged V8 engine, like a powerhouse.
  • The transmission has 8 speeds and it’s dual-clutch, whatever that means.
  • The way the car’s weight is balanced is pretty even, which helps it handle well.
  • There’s a wing at the back that moves to keep the car steady when it goes super fast.
  • Fancy wheels made from lightweight magnesium.
  • The exhaust system uses fancy titanium, and the body has strong carbon fiber parts.
  • It’s got racing technology, so it’s kind of like a race car for the streets.

The top engineer, Greg Goodall, says they aimed to make this car really fast, like nothing they’ve made before. But here’s the catch: it won’t be faster than the actual race car. That’s just not possible since it has to follow rules for regular roads. But still, it’s going to have some cool things that the race car can’t, like the powerful engine and some of the suspension features.

They did some interesting things with this car. They moved the transmission to the back, so the car’s weight is balanced better. This helps it handle turns and speed up more smoothly. They even changed the trunk to make room for cooling stuff and a suspension that adjusts itself. The back wing also changes shape to keep the car steady at high speeds.

So, this new Mustang GTD is like a mix of complex and cool stuff. It’s got fancy features and a history of racing, all rolled into one. Ford’s aiming to make a mark in the world of super cars with this one, showing off their tech skills and love for speed.
