Customers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. Maruti Suzuki claims a fuel efficiency of 16.94kpl for the manual variant and 16.39kpl for the automatic variant. The SUV features a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, cruise control, push start/stop button, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Targeting Domestic and Global Markets
Since opening bookings on January 12, Maruti Suzuki has received over 32,000 bookings for the Jimny. The MT variant accounted for 50% of the bookings, with the remaining generated from the AT variant. Maruti Suzuki anticipates a waiting period of 5 to 6 months for this model. The company expects 60% of sales to come from tier 1 markets, with the remaining from tier 2 and 3 markets.
India as a Global Export Base
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, emphasized the significance of India as both a domestic market and a global export base for Suzuki Motor Corporation. He announced that India will serve as the mother plant for the Jimny and will be the first market for its launch, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the Make-In-India initiative.
- Maruti Suzuki’s launch of the Jimny SUV with competitive pricing and impressive features aims to capture a significant market share in the SUV segment for the fiscal year 2023-24. The availability of six variants, the power-packed specifications, and the wide distribution network through Nexa stores across India enhance the appeal of the Jimny.
