Audi’s Electric Vehicle Plans for Mexico

According to Reuters, Audi will announce plans to produce electric vehicles in Mexico this month. The announcement will take place on July 18 at Audi’s plant in San Jose Chiapa, Puebla.

Audi aims to have each of its global production sites produce at least one electric vehicle by 2030. Mexico is a crucial market for Audi, and they already manufacture the Q5 SUV at their Puebla plant.

Mexico has experienced a surge in electric vehicle production. In 2022, the country produced 120,000 electric vehicles, a significant increase from 20,000 in 2021. Factors contributing to this growth include government incentives, rising consumer demand, and the presence of major automakers in Mexico.

The specific electric vehicle model that Audi will produce in Mexico has not been disclosed yet. However, Audi offers several electric vehicles in their lineup, such as the e-tron SUV, e-tron GT, and Q4 e-tron.

Audi’s announcement of their electric vehicle plans is a significant development for the Mexican automotive industry, indicating the country’s increasing prominence in the global electric vehicle market.
