Vedanta Limited, a diversified natural resources group, has announced its plan to invest $4 billion in setting up a display manufacturing factory in India. The factory will be located in Gujarat and is anticipated to generate more than 10,000 job opportunities.
The primary focus of the factory will be the production of high-quality displays for smartphones, televisions, and various electronic devices. Vedanta will incorporate cutting-edge technology, positioning it as one of the most advanced display manufacturing facilities worldwide.
This substantial investment aligns with Vedanta’s strategic objective of establishing a prominent presence in the global technology sector. Having already ventured into semiconductor manufacturing, the company now aims to expand its reach in the display market.
The Indian government is fully supportive of Vedanta’s investment and has extended several incentives to facilitate the project. Recognizing the significance of technology sector investments, the government believes that the factory will contribute to enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities.
Construction of the display manufacturing factory is expected to commence in 2024, with the plant projected to be fully operational by 2026.
