Hindustan Unilever Limited’s (HUL) new Managing Director (MD) and CEO Rohit Jawa is expected to focus on volume push and scale up acquisitions, as he takes over the reins of the company from Sanjiv Mehta on June 27.
Rohit Jawa, who is currently the Chief of Transformation for Unilever, has a proven track record of delivering results in challenging markets. He helped transform Unilever China into the company’s third largest market globally. And led the business in the Philippines to become one of the top 10 markets for Unilever.
In an interview with The Economic Times, Jawa said that he would focus on driving volume growth for HUL. While also expanding the company’s portfolio through acquisitions. He said that he would look for acquisitions in categories where HUL has a strong presence, such as personal care, home care, and foods.
Jawa also said that he would focus on digital transformation and sustainability, as these are key areas for growth in the FMCG industry. He said that HUL would invest in digital technologies to improve its reach and engagement with consumers, and also to make its operations more efficient.
Jawa’s appointment comes at a time when Hindustan Unilever Limited is facing some challenges. The company’s growth has slowed in recent quarters, and it is facing increasing competition from rivals such as Procter & Gamble and Nestle. However, Jawa is confident that HUL can overcome these challenges and continue to grow. He said that the company has a strong brand portfolio, a deep understanding of the Indian market, and a talented team.
“I am excited to join HUL and lead the company into its next phase of growth,” Jawa said. “I am confident that we can build on our strong foundation and deliver sustainable and profitable growth for our shareholders.”
