Nissan’s New Executive Committee to Help Company Achieve Ambitious Goals

Nissan recently made changes to its executive committee by appointing three new members. This decision came after the departure of former COO Ashwani Gupta. The newly appointed members are Guillaume Cartier, Jeremie Papin, and Shohei Yamazaki.

Guillaume Cartier, who currently chairs the Management Committee for various regions, including Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania, has been with Nissan since 2016. Jeremie Papin, the chair of the Americas, joined Nissan in 2019 and previously held senior positions at Renault and PSA Group. Shohei Yamazaki, who leads the China division, has been with Nissan since 2001 and has held senior positions in the company’s Chinese and Japanese operations.

These appointments are part of a larger restructuring effort within Nissan’s management structure. CEO Makoto Uchida aims to create a more agile and responsive organization by implementing a flatter structure.

Ashwani Gupta, the former COO, left Nissan on June 27 following reported disagreements with Uchida. Despite his relatively short tenure of just over two years, Gupta’s departure led to the opportunity for new leaders to step in.

The newly formed executive committee will assume responsibility for overseeing Nissan’s business operations, production development, and the implementation of long-term strategies. This move signifies Uchida’s commitment to his vision for a more agile and responsive Nissan. The committee’s main task will be to support the company in achieving its ambitious goals for the future.

The formal appointment of Cartier, Papin, and Yamazaki to the executive committee will take place during Nissan’s upcoming board meeting scheduled for July 6th. These appointments mark an important milestone in Nissan’s journey towards a successful and transformative future.
