NEP Helps Indian Universities Improve Global Standing

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the increase in the QS world ranking of Indian universities. He highlighted that the number of Indian universities in the QS world ranking has risen from 12 in 2014 to 45 at present.

He credited this achievement to the forward-looking educational policies and decisions made by the government.

The QS world ranking evaluates universities globally based on various criteria, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, internationalization, and research impact. In the 2023 QS world ranking, the number of ranked Indian universities reached 45, a significant increase compared to 12 in 2014.

The highest-ranked Indian university in the 2023 ranking was the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), securing the 47th position globally.

PM Modi emphasized that the New Education Policy (NEP) introduced by his government provides students with a wide range of learning options. He stated that the NEP is “revolutionizing the education sector in India” and “equipping our youth for the future.”
