ABB and AMNS India Partner to Build State-of-the-Art Cold Rolling Mill

ABB India has secured a contract for supplying electrification and automation systems. The contract is for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s advanced steel cold rolling mill in Hazira, Gujarat. The contract’s value is around Rs 300 crore. The contract was awarded through John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL). JCIL is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the project.

ABB will provide the ABB Abilityâ„¢ System 800xA distributed control system (DCS). They will also supply associated equipment and components. The systems aim to improve energy efficiency. They will optimize zinc consumption. Moreover, they will ensure high levels of corrosion resistance. These enhancements will benefit the steel production process.

AMNS India is planning to expand its downstream operations. The expansion includes the construction of a new CRM. The new CRM is expected to have a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per annum. The commissioning of the mill is scheduled for 2024.
