The AIADMK on Tuesday strongly criticized BJP state president K Annamalai for his recent remarks against the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa, labeling his comments as “irresponsible” and “immature.” Annamalai had stated that Jayalalithaa had failed to fulfill her promises to the people of Tamil Nadu and further described the AIADMK as a “sinking ship.”
In response to Annamalai’s remarks, AIADMK general secretary and chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami accused the BJP leader of attempting to create a sensation through his statements. Palaniswami emphasized Annamalai’s lack of understanding about Tamil Nadu and its people, dismissing his comments as irresponsible and baseless.
Palaniswami also criticized Annamalai for his alleged immaturity and urged him to refrain from making unfounded allegations against Jayalalithaa, emphasizing the need to respect the departed leader.
The AIADMK’s strong response to Annamalai comes in the aftermath of a public meeting held by the BJP leader in Coimbatore, where he targeted the ruling party. Annamalai accused the AIADMK government of corruption and misgovernance, claiming that the people of Tamil Nadu were seeking a change and were disillusioned with the AIADMK.
The AIADMK’s attack on Annamalai is expected to further escalate the war of words between the two political parties. The BJP is likely to retaliate, accusing the AIADMK of being in denial and attempting to shield corrupt practices.
