The purpose is to measure progress beyond economic growth. It includes health, education, housing, and the environment. The government aims to use it for informed policy decisions and better living conditions.

Key indicators on the dashboard are life expectancy, infant mortality rate, school attendance, home ownership, greenhouse gas emissions, water quality, crime rate, social connection, and mental health.

Developed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Government Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, it is based on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The dashboard receives quarterly updates and is available in multiple languages. Detailed information is on the ABS website.
