Australian Home Minister Clare O’Neil criticized Donald Trump Jr., calling him a “big baby,” when he cancelled his planned speaking tour in Australia. The tour was supposed to start in Sydney on July 9 and include stops in Brisbane and Melbourne.
The organization behind the tour, Turning Point Australia, claimed that Trump Jr.’s visa was delayed by the Australian government, alleging it was part of a “cancel culture” campaign against the former president’s son. However, O’Neil stated that Trump Jr. had been granted a visa and the tour was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
O’Neil took to Twitter, referring to Trump Jr. as a “sore loser” and a “big baby” in a series of now-deleted tweets. She expressed that he was “not very popular” in Australia and was attempting to blame the Australian government for his own failures.
The cancellation of Trump Jr.’s tour coincides with a growing backlash against the former president and his family in Australia. Calls have been made to the Australian government to prohibit Trump from entering the country.
It remains uncertain if Donald Trump Jr. will ever visit Australia. Nonetheless, the cancellation of his tour has shed light on the increasing divisions within Australian society regarding the Trump family.
