BNP supporters blocking roads faced rubber bullets and tear gas, resulting in injuries and arrests. Khaleda Zia, the party’s leader, urged the government to release arrested protesters and end violence.

Government defended police action, claiming it was necessary to disperse disruptive protesters. BNP has been protesting regularly since 2018, demanding early elections, but the government disagrees. Tensions escalated in Bangladesh due to economic and political challenges amid the clashes.

These clashes are part of an ongoing series of protests by the BNP against the government since 2018 when Khaleda Zia was arrested. The party persistently demands early elections, but the government maintains that there is no need for them.

The situation has further heightened tensions in Bangladesh, adding to the existing challenges of economic and political instability that the country is grappling with. The coming days will be crucial in determining how events will unfold.
