The investigation into Mishra began in 2021 when Canadian authorities received a tip about his involvement in providing fraudulent documentation to international students. Mishra had created fake admission letters from several Canadian universities. Including the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto, and McGill University. These letters were used to help students obtain visas for studying in Canada.

Mishra is now facing five charges under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. These charges include providing false information to immigration officials, forging documents, and using forged documents. If he is convicted, Mishra could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
