Red Sea in Japan: Beer Factory Leak Blamed for Color Change

A leak at a beer factory in the Japanese resort city of Nago has turned the sea red. The leak, which occurred on Tuesday, released a coolant containing propylene glycol, which is a colorless liquid that is often dyed red with food coloring. The coolant flowed into a nearby river, which then carried it into the sea.

The brewery, Orion Breweries Ltd., has apologized for the incident and said that it is taking steps to prevent a recurrence. The company has also said that the red water poses no danger to humans or the marine ecosystem.

A health official from the Okinawa Prefectural Government has said that there is no major environmental damage expected from the leak. However, the official has advised people to avoid swimming in the affected area until the water has cleared.

The leak has caused some concern among residents and tourists in Nago. Nago is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches and clear blue waters. However, the red water resulting from the leak has spoiled the appearance of the beach. This has raised concerns about the potential environmental impact of the leak.
