In addition, the ministers condemned all forms of terrorism and violence against civilians, including the recent terrorist attack in Eli that claimed five lives. They also denounced the ongoing settler violence targeting Palestinians.

The Israeli government defended its decision, citing the need to accommodate the growing Jewish population in the West Bank. However, the international community, including the United States, criticized the move.

The United States expressed deep disappointment with the Israeli decision and reiterated its non-support for settlement expansion. They emphasized their commitment to working with Israel and the Palestinians towards a two-state solution.

The approval of new settlement units remains a contentious issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. While the Palestinians view the settlements as illegal and an impediment to peace, Israel argues that they are essential for historical and security reasons.
