UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized Russia’s accountability for the devastation in Ukraine at the Ukraine Recovery Summit in London.
Sunak spoke at the Ukraine Recovery Summit in London, which was attended by representatives from over 40 countries. He said that the summit was a “turning point” in the international effort to help Ukraine rebuild.
Sunak highlighted that the UK’s loan guarantees would facilitate access to essential financing for Ukraine’s infrastructure, economy, and society. Additionally, he announced an extra USD 1 billion in humanitarian aid from the UK to assist Ukraine.
Sunak affirmed the unwavering support of the UK, stating that Ukraine will receive the necessary assistance to rebuild and emphasized the need for Russia to be held accountable for its crimes.
“We will not rest until Ukraine has the support it needs to rebuild,” Sunak said. “And we will not rest until Russia pays for its crimes.”
The Ukraine Recovery Summit, organized by the UK government and the World Bank, aimed at long-term reconstruction of Ukraine. Participating nations committed to collaborating in rebuilding Ukraine’s economy, infrastructure, and society.

The summit also focused on aiding the prosecution of war crimes committed by Russian forces.The ultimate goal is to help Ukraine become a democratic, prosperous, and independent country through concerted efforts and support.
