The controversial X logo installed on Twitter’s Market Street headquarters by Elon Musk has become a source of heat in San Francisco. The gigantic logo, glowing, pulsing, and strobing, has faced criticism from both officials and residents who find it excessively bright and intrusive to the city’s aesthetic.

In response to the mounting concerns, the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection has launched an investigation into the structure. Additionally, the city’s Board of Supervisors has scheduled a hearing for the following week to address the matter formally.

Among the residents, worries persist about the logo’s impact on the skyline, with some describing it as garish and entirely out of place, more fitting for Las Vegas than San Francisco.

Elon Musk, however, stands by his creation, labeling it a “work of art” and downplaying its brightness. Despite his defense, he has expressed willingness to modify the logo if deemed necessary.

The dispute has brought to the forefront the increasing tensions between Elon Musk and San Francisco, given his vocal criticism of the city’s high taxes and stringent regulations. Speculations arise that he might relocate Twitter’s headquarters outside San Francisco, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
