Scott Pilgrim Is Back in an All New Anime Series

You know, when a piece of culture sticks around for a long time, that means it’s pretty important. Especially if it inspires other things and people keep enjoying it even after a long while. This usually happens because it really speaks to people on some level. It’s not just something random; it’s got artistic value. And that’s definitely the case with Scott Pilgrim.

Back in March, Netflix told us they were making an anime version of Scott Pilgrim. They brought back the same actors who were in the movie by Edgar Wright to do the voices, which sounded pretty cool. But until now, they hadn’t shown us much of what the anime would look like.

Guess what? Netflix finally let us in on the secret! They released the first trailer for the Scott Pilgrim anime, and here’s a surprise: it’s coming out way sooner than we thought, on November 17th. They’re calling it “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off,” and the script is written by Bryan Lee O’Malley and Ben David Grabinski. The folks at Science Saru, led by the famous Masaaki Yuasa, are the ones making this anime. You might know them from “Ping Pong: The Animation” and “Devilman Crybaby.” The music will be done by Anamanaguchi, and the person in charge of making it all come together is Abel Góngora. He’s a director from Spain who worked on an episode of “Star Wars: Visions.”

Now, let’s talk about Scott Pilgrim itself. It’s a comic book series that was around from 2004 to 2010, made by Bryan Lee O’Malley. He was really into manga, which is why his work looks like that. It’s about Scott Pilgrim and his love interest, Ramona Flowers. This story became so popular that they turned it into a movie in 2010, directed by Edgar Wright, called “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.” In the same year, they also made a video game based on it, called “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.”

Knowing that Science Saru is behind the anime gives us hope for a really good show, especially after seeing the exciting trailer they released. But, unfortunately, we have to wait until November 17th to find out if the new anime can capture our hearts the same way the original did a whole decade ago.
