Australia has announced that it will provide more armored vehicles to Ukraine. The new package includes 70 military vehicles, such as Bushmasters, M113 armored personnel carriers, and M113AS4 armored logistics vehicles. With this addition, Australia has now provided Ukraine with a total of 90 armored vehicles.
The Bushmaster is an Australian-made armored vehicle known for its high level of protection and off-road capabilities. It has been utilized by the Australian Army since 2005 and has seen action in various conflicts, including the War in Afghanistan.
The M113, an American-made armored personnel carrier, has been in service since the 1960s. Although it offers less armor than the Bushmaster, it still provides protection against small arms fire and artillery fragments.
The M113AS4 is an Australian-modified version of the M113 that comes with several upgrades, including a new engine, suspension, and armor package.
The delivery of these new armored vehicles significantly enhances Ukraine’s military capabilities. They will serve to safeguard Ukrainian troops from Russian fire and enable greater mobility on the battlefield.
In addition to the armored vehicles, the Australian government has pledged further military training and financial assistance to Ukraine. This commitment aligns with the international community’s broader effort to support Ukraine in its ongoing struggle against Russia.
