The strikes specifically targeted the Black Sea port of Odesa, resulting in significant damage to its infrastructure. Port facilities and several residential buildings were among the structures affected.
These strikes were perceived as a direct response to a prior Ukrainian assault on the Kerch Bridge, a crucial link connecting Russia to the Crimean Peninsula. Although the bridge sustained damage, it has not been closed to traffic and remains operational.
Odesa has recently become a recurrent target of Russian aggression, exemplifying a series of attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
