According to Ukrainian officials, a total of 28 kamikaze drones were launched by Russia at the two cities. Of these, Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down 26 drones. However, two drones managed to reach their targets. One hit an administration building in Odesa, while the other struck several houses in the Kyiv region. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or deaths in either attack.

The recent attack on Kyiv marks the second time the city has been targeted by Russian drones since the start of the war. The first attack occurred in April, resulting in the loss of one life and injuries to several individuals, when a drone struck a residential building.

As for Odesa, this is the first time the city has been targeted by Russian drones since May. During this attack, two drones struck a grain terminal, leading to a fire that caused significant damage and destruction to a substantial amount of grain.

These attacks on Kyiv and Odesa have taken place while NATO leaders are gathered in Lithuania for a summit. The primary focus of the summit is to discuss security threats posed by Russia. One of the key agenda items involves strengthening NATO’s defenses in Eastern Europe and providing increased military assistance to Ukraine.

The recent attacks on Kyiv and Odesa serve as a stark reminder that the war in Ukraine remains ongoing. They demonstrate Russia’s persistent desire to wage war against its neighbor. Additionally, these attacks are viewed as provocations by Russia against NATO, indicating their lack of interest in pursuing peace talks.
