So far, there have been no reports of injuries or significant damage. However, some roads and trails in the vicinity have been closed due to the eruption. The Icelandic Meteorological Office has raised the aviation color code to orange, indicating the potential for ashfall that could disrupt air travel.

Over the past two years, the Geldingadalur valley has witnessed three volcanic eruptions. The first eruption occurred in March 2021 and lasted for six months. The second eruption occurred in August 2022 and lasted for three weeks.

Iceland, located in a volcanically active region, frequently experiences volcanic activity. With more than 30 active volcanoes, the country witnesses eruptions approximately every five years.

The Icelandic Meteorological Office is closely monitoring the current eruption. The public has been advised to avoid the area for safety reasons.
