Ajit Agarkar has been named the chairman of the senior men’s cricket team selection committee. The announcement was made on July 4 by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Agarkar, a former India cricketer, has played 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and four T20Is. He was part of the Indian team that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.
Agarkar’s appointment comes after the Indian team’s disappointing loss to New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final. He will be responsible for selecting the team for the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies and the ODI series against England.
Ajit Agarkar is highly respected in Indian cricket and is known for his cricketing expertise. He is also a skilled communicator, expected to build strong relationships with the players.
The selection committee includes Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, and Sridharan Sharath as other members.
