Astros Offense Buries Cardinals 11-1, Tucker Homers Twice

Kyle Tucker had an outstanding performance, driving in five runs as the Houston Astros dominated the St. Louis Cardinals 11-1 on Thursday night. Tucker’s contributions included a two-run double in the first inning and a three-run homer in the third, both against Miles Mikolas (5-7).

The Astros had a strong start, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding six more in the third to secure a commanding 10-0 lead. Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Peña also made notable contributions, each earning three hits and two RBIs. The Astros have been in good form, winning four out of their last five games.

Framber Valdez (8-3) pitched exceptionally, allowing only one run on three hits and striking out six in six innings to earn the win. Mikolas struggled, giving up 11 runs on 11 hits in just 3 1/3 innings. He has not won a game in his last four starts and currently holds a 10.80 ERA.

On the other hand, the Cardinals have been struggling, losing four out of their last five games. Tucker’s performance was exceptional, recording his highest number of RBIs since April 23 when he had six against the New York Yankees. With a batting average of .308, 16 home runs, and 48 RBIs this season, Tucker continues to be a key player for the Astros.

Alvarez boasts a batting average of .310 with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs, while Peña holds a .271 batting average with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs. Valdez has been in excellent form, winning his last four starts and maintaining an impressive 8-3 record with a 2.93 ERA this season.

The Astros and Cardinals will face each other again on Friday night in the second game of their four-game series.
