Mets-Red Sox game resumes Saturday with Mets still leading 4-3

The Mets-Red Sox game, scheduled for Friday, July 22, was interrupted in the fourth inning. At that point, the Mets were leading with a score of 4-3. The suspension was due to adverse weather conditions, resulting in a two-hour delay. As a result, the game will continue on Saturday, July 23, starting at 2:20 p.m. local time.

The game’s interruption also caused changes in the schedule for Game 2 of the three-game series. Initially set for 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, it has now been moved to a later start time of 7:10 p.m.

During the game, both teams displayed their power-hitting abilities. The Mets started the scoring in the top of the first inning when Francisco Lindor smashed a solo home run. However, the Red Sox quickly countered in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer by Xander Bogaerts, leveling the score.

In the top of the third inning, the Mets regained the lead as Pete Alonso blasted a two-run home run. The Red Sox, not willing to be left behind, scored one run in the bottom of the third inning through Bobby Dalbec’s sacrifice fly.

Continuing the action, the Mets added another run in the top of the fourth inning thanks to Starling Marte’s sacrifice fly. Unfortunately, the weather gods intervened at this point, leading to the suspension of the game with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning.

With the game set to resume, both teams have the opportunity to recalibrate their strategies. The Mets will have David Peterson on the mound, and the Red Sox will send Nick Pivetta to take charge.
