Novak Djokovic was relieved to survive a tough test from Andrey Rublev in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. The Serbian won 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3. He knew that he had been in a battle against an inspired opponent.
Andrey Rublev played some of his best tennis of the tournament. He gave Djokovic a real scare. The seventh seed took the first set. Andrey Rublev was in control for much of the second set as well.
However, Novak Djokovic dug deep and found a way to win the next three sets. He was happy to get through the match. He knows that he will need to be at his best if he wants to win the title.
Novak Djokovic said, “I think today he played terrific tennis. He was very aggressive, he was serving well, he was moving well. I had to dig deep and find solutions.”
In the semi-finals, Djokovic will face Jannik Sinner. Jannik Sinner is a young player who is full of potential. He will be a tough test for Djokovic. However, Novak Djokovic is confident that he can win the match and reach his 13th Wimbledon final.
