upGrad Expands into the Pacific Region, Establishes Medical Institute in Vanuatu

Edtech major upGrad is making significant strides in its global expansion efforts, venturing into the Pacific region with the establishment of a medical institute in the Republic of Vanuatu. With an initial investment of $10 million, the firm aims to initiate operations at the completely offline campus.

The upGrad Institute of Medical Sciences (UIMS) is set to commence its four-year MBBS program, accredited by the esteemed Medical Council of India (MCI), in the second half of 2023. Located in the capital city of Port Vila, the institute will have a capacity to accommodate 100 students and will be staffed by qualified faculty members from both India and Vanuatu.
