The Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU) announced on Thursday that England will travel to Japan to play a Test match against the Brave Blossoms in June 2024. The match will be the first Test between the two teams on Japanese soil.
England have beaten Japan in all three previous Test matches between the two teams, most recently a 52-13 thrashing at Twickenham in November 2022.
The match in June 2024 will be part of the Lipovitan D Challenge Cup, which is an annual series of matches between England and Japan. The venue for the Lipovitan D Challenge Cup has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to be one of the major stadiums in Japan, such as Tokyo Stadium or Yokohama Stadium. The match is scheduled to be played on June 22, 2024.
This is a landmark occasion for both rugby unions, as it will be the first time that England have played a Test match in Japan.
The match is also expected to be a sell-out, as there is a lot of interest in rugby in Japan.
